Fluorogenic Substrates & Inhibitors

Fluorogenic Substrates for Coagulation Enzymes & Inhibitors

Fluorogenic substrates and inhibitors are commonly used in haemostasis research to study various aspects of the coagulation cascade and thrombus formation.
Our products include a complete line of fluorescent reporter group 6-amino-1-naphthalene-sulfonamide (ANSN)-based substrates designed for monitoring the enzyme activity of serine proteases, as well as tripeptide chloromethylketones that irreversibly inhibit these proteases. Additionally, we offer a variety of other inhibitors, both plasma and non-plasma based.

ANSN-Based Fluorogenic Substrates: These are synthetic substrates that are designed to emit fluorescence when cleaved by specific enzymes involved in the coagulation cascade. By measuring the fluorescence emitted, researchers can quantify the activity of these enzymes in real-time. For example, fluorogenic substrates can be used to measure the activity of Factor Xa, Thrombin, Factor XIa, activated Protein C (aPC), Plasmin, tissue Plasminogen Activator (tPA) and Factor VIIa, or other proteases involved in coagulation.

Inhibitors: Inhibitors are compounds that block the activity of specific enzymes or proteins involved in coagulation. In haemostasis research, inhibitors are often used to study the effects of blocking certain steps in the coagulation cascade. For example, inhibitors of Thrombin or Factor Xa can be used to investigate their roles in clot formation and stability.

Explore a wide range of inhibitors, from human protease inhibitors like Angiostatin and Thrombin Activatable Fibrinolysis Inhibitor (TAFI) to various Chloromethylketones. Furthermore, you can choose from Corn Trypsin Inhibitor (CTI) and the synthetic Thrombin inhibitor Dansylarginine N-(3-ethyl-1,5-pentanediyl)amide (DAPA) for your research needs.

Notably, CTI is available pre-aliquoted in our blood collection tubes, specifically our SCAT-27 line. These CTI Vacuum Collection Tubes (SCAT-Type 27) are for research use only and streamline Tissue Factor-dependent studies by enabling direct blood collection onto an anticoagulant (Sodium Citrate) containing CTI.

Fluorogenic substrates and inhibitors provide valuable tools monitoring haemostasis and thrombosis, as well as for developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for related disorders.
