Description
NUCxyme™ DNA/RNA Nuclease, Recombinant, AF
Recombinant Serratia marcescens Nuclease, Animal Free
Serratia marcescens nuclease is recombinantly produced in the yeast Komagataella phaffii to minimize the presence of contaminating nucleases and proteases while eliminating potential pathogens associated with animal-derived materials. This enzyme acts as a non-mammalian source of DNase and RNase for various bioprocessing applications designed to remove nucleic acids and lower the viscosity of cellular extracts.
Serratia marcescens nuclease is a sequence-independent endonuclease with extraordinarily high specific activity. It can completely digest all forms of DNA and RNA (single-stranded, double-stranded, linear, and circular) and produce 5′ monophosphate-terminated oligonucleotides of 3-5 bases in length. It is protease and endotoxin-free and extremely useful in bioprocessing applications requiring DNA and/or RNA removal from cellular extracts.
NUCxyme™ is available in 25 ku, 100 ku, and custom quantities upon request. For customer-specific packaging, please contact us.
Unit Definition
One unit will cause an increase of 0.007 A260 per minute per ml while acting on highly polymerized calf thymus DNA at 25°C and pH 8.0
One Worthington unit as defined above is equal to 1-2 Serratia marcescens nuclease units as measured by other manufacturers based on the digestion of salmon sperm DNA to acid- soluble oligonucleotides.
