SCAT tubes are specifically designed to collect blood samples and prevent clotting by incorporating various anticoagulants or protease inhibitor cocktails. This preservation ensures that analytes will be available for further analysis.

They are commonly utilized in laboratory settings for experimental studies, such as investigating coagulation mechanisms, evaluating anticoagulant therapies, and conducting research on platelet function and haemostasis.

Some examples of such assays include the assessment of Fibrinopeptide-A (FPA), Prothrombin Fragment 1•2 (F1•2), Fibrinogen Degradation Products (FDP), and the Thrombin/Antithrombin III complex (TAT). These metrics are notably affected by ongoing protease activity in blood or plasma specimens.

SCAT Tubes contain inhibitors such as Chloromethylketones or Corn Trypsin Inhibitor (CTI), in combination with anticoagulants (Sodium Citrate), protease inhibitors (Aprotinin) and stabilizer (D-Mannitol), ensuring effective preservation of sample analytes.

Please refer to the table for an overview of the formulation of pre-assembled tubes:

SCAT-1 SCAT-2 SCAT-875B CTI SCAT Type 27

ACT tubes are used to measure the clotting time of veterinary blood samples in point-of-care testing, monitoring or evaluating haemostasis. These tubes contain the activator Kaolin, which accelerates the clotting process. ACT tubes are primarily utilized in veterinary settings for immediate clotting time assessment.
